Easter is a beautiful time of year on the French Riviera. The weather is brighter meaning there is warmth to be basked in and spring is bringing into colour all the plants and flowers that hibernated during winter. It is a great time to start making the most of Riviera living, exploring new places and finding the activities that are part of local life.
Family Fun Around the Riviera
Easter means eggs, which in turn means chocolate and hunts. And French chocolate is well worth hunting for! For families there is much to do across the region, with egg hunts taking place daily. L
ocal websites are a good way to keep updated about the many egg hunts available throughout the Nice region. It is also worth taking the opportunity to head outside of Nice and explore new places in a way that the kids will love!
A Sporting Easter
There are plenty of sporting challenges to be had on the Côte d’Azur. For thrill seekers there is a second hand motorboat show at Mandelieu la Napoule. For those preferring challenges that are more physical there are the Cannes International Triathlon or the International Half-Marathon of Nice to enjoy.
Off The Beaten Track
Whilst spring is coming into blossom the Riviera celebrates its beauty with a variety of flower festivals. There are different exhibitions in Cannes and Falican whilst Nice is hosting its first Festival of the Gardens of the Côte d’Azure.
For something different head out to Le Bar Sur Loup on Easter Monday. Here they have an annual celebration of the Bigaradier (Seville Orange Tree). This tree is grown for its flowers rather than its fruit- the orange blossoms are used to produce the neroli essence highly prized in perfumery.
